You may need to buy a garage shed in case you would like to protect your new car from the damaging effects of the elements, such as direct sunlight, if you don't have a garage. This article discusses some helpful tips that will enable you to construct a concrete base for that portable garage shed that you wish to install on your residential property.
Build It Bigger
Do not build a concrete base that is the exact size of your new garage shed. Why shouldn't you? A base that is the exact size of the shed will make it very difficult for you to adjust the position or anchors of the shed during the installation process. It is therefore better for you to make a base that is a few inches, such as six inches, larger than the surface area of the garage shed. That extra length/width added will also help to keep water away from the interior of the shed when it rains.
Ensure the Corners Are Square
It is important for you to make sure that the form corners into which you will pour the concrete mix are perfectly square. This is necessary for a number of reasons.
First, you will need a square template in order to determine how much concrete mix to prepare for the project. That volume of concrete can be got by multiplying the length of the form by the width so that you find out the square footage covered by the form. That information can then help you to get advice from a hardware store regarding the quantity of different products, such as cement and sand that you need for that base.
Secondly, the square corners are important because they will allow you to install the garage shed on that base without any part of the shed being placed on bare ground.
Measure the form from one corner to another corner diagonally. Record that length before you measure the other diagonal line. Those two measurements that you get should be equal if the corners were all square.
Use Several Pegs
Keep the forms in place by the use of pegs that you drive into the ground. Use as many pegs as you can find, such as five pegs on each side of the forms. Those pegs will prevent the forms from moving out of position as you pour the concrete mix into them.
Your garage shed concrete base will be flawless if you implement the tips above during its construction. Your final task will be to follow the shed installation guidelines provided by the manufacturer.
